Case Study 1

Warehouse Consolidation & Distribution Centre

Brief: Establish a 3rd party consolidation centre for the storage and distribution of products received from Europe.

Outcome

Successfully designed and implemented a project to provide a warehouse operation for receiving, storing and distributing goods destined for wholesalers and supermarkets. Systems and processes for invoicing customers for storage and distribution services were also created. Training was provided in managing stock, reconciling of stock figures and investigating of discrepancies.

Case Study 2

Materials Replenishment / Inventory Management

Brief: To design and implement an MRP system for the ordering of materials for production requirements in line with forecasted sales.

Outcome

Using existing data collected and provided by the business a basic MRP process and system was created to replenish stock levels to ensure adequate stock holding and minimise excess inventory being held by the business. Raw Material Inventory was reduced by 40% and significant extra costs and operational issues that were impacting on the business were eliminated and S&OP process was improved.

Case Study 3

Transport Costings Analysis

Brief: Review existing transport and distribution contract to ensure competitive pricing.

Outcome

Utilising data over a period of 12 months a profile was built on the true cost of delivering to customers, this information was then analysed by sector, customer and delivery point location. A more efficient costing model was created for pricing and through a tendering process, more competitive terms were negotiated with the service provider.

Case Study 4

Fleet Fuel Efficiency

Brief: Understand the different fuel costs and efficiencies involved with operating a mixed fleet of vehicles.

Outcome

Data was collected over a given period for analysis, fuel consumption by vehicle and by type of work was understood to understand the nature of the work being carried out and the associated costs. Using this management information further work was then carried out to develop a process and system to enable efficient costings of jobs, this allowed for increased competitive pricing and an increase in conversion rate for quotes given.

Case Study 5

Forecast Accuracy / Demand Planning

Brief: Improve forecast accuracy, foster an environment of ownership of Forecasting and develop a system for reporting forecast accuracy.

Outcome

Starting initially with a basic Forecasting analysis tool, a process of reporting forecast accuracy was implemented. A journey of training and mentoring the Sales Team on Forecast Accuracy and how to feedback information to the business was undertaken. A measure of Absolute Accuracy for forecasting was then implemented in the business, which improved from 45% to 70% within a three-month period.

Case Study 6

Develop a range of Frozen Chicken Products

Brief: To manage the successful development and delivery of a range of Frozen Chicken products.

Outcome

Following on from the brief received from the client who was building a factory for a range of Frozen Food for the Fast Food sector our NPD food consultant developed a range of products in the clients Test Kitchen which were then rolled out for mass production in line with the clients specifications and requirements.

Case Study 7

FSA – EC Licence Approval for Meat Processing Plant

Brief: Acquire FSA approval for a new build meat processing plant.

Outcome

Pre-requisites (PRP) and HACCP procedures were designed and implemented by our Food Safety Team for the new meat processing site, staff were trained up to Level 2 & Level 3 in Food Safety, with the initial licence achieved at the first attempt, advisory guidance was actioned along with successful full approval achieved after the probationary period.

Case Study 8

Exploring New Opportunities and Contracts

Brief: Assist the business in identifying new opportunities and meet their requirements.

Outcome

Our clients existing work was assessed and new opportunities for growth were identified. Requirements for the targeted new work, undergoing costing and pricing exercises, preparing tender documentations and submissions along with compiling company presentations and meeting clients were amongst the tasks. Also procedural and compliance documentation was prepared, to date this work has enabled 20% growth in business.
